Our Classes

Classes are available at no cost and are geared toward expectant parents, current parents or people caring for children ages 0-5 years old. Click on the links below for more information and to register for appropriate classes.

Childbirth

This is a two-class series. In the first class, we will discuss preparing for childbirth, signs and stages of labor, comfort measures, relaxation techniques, birth positions, and the golden hour.

The second class will cover what to pack & prepare, birth plans, the unexpected in childbirth, pain management, postpartum care, and more. We look forward to seeing you and supporting your journey approaching childbirth!

Caring for Baby

This is a two-class series. In the first class, Jess will discuss topics including responding to baby, safe sleep, understanding your baby’s crying, calming a crying baby, and incorporating self-care into caring for your baby. The second class will cover umbilical cord care, bath time, diapers, oral care and feeding, bonding with baby, and safety. Additional topics related to newborn care may also come up throughout the course. We look forward to seeing you and supporting your journey through newborn care! 

New Parent Workshop

Join Mother & Child Education Center for a fun and informative in-person event designed for new parents to gain some or more hands-on experience. This workshop will cover a range of topics to help you navigate the exciting journey of parenthood. From diaper changing tips, bathtime basics, postpartum planning, to car seat safety, we’ve got you covered. Click the tab below to learn more about what you can expect from our workshop! This class is geared towards parents who are expecting or have a child 6 months or younger. We can’t wait to see you there!

Breastfeeding

Join us for a free workshop on breastfeeding. This class is great for expectant parents and those with newborns! The class is taught by a lactation specialist who will go over the building blocks of breastfeeding. You will learn to recognize your baby’s hunger signs, how to encourage good latching and proper positioning, and how to create a supportive environment that fosters a positive breastfeeding experience. Additional topics related to breastfeeding may also come up throughout the course. We look forward to seeing you and supporting your breastfeeding journey!

Safe Sleep

Call (503) 249-5801 to learn more. Safe Sleep is only available to parents in the 3 months prior to baby’s arrival and the two months after.
