Mother & Child Education Center Staff

Maura White 3

Executive Director: Maura White

Maura started her passion for community advocacy at the age of 8 when she held her first fundraiser, a Rusty Nails Carnival for kids. After graduating from Oregon State University with her BA in Technical Journalism, Maura taught pre-school and then backpacked through Europe after a short study program at Trinity College in Dublin. Upon returning, Maura jumped into a long and rewarding career in nonprofits, working with Portland State University, University of Portland, and the Oregon Health Authority, among others. Maura holds a Master’s degree in Human Service from the University of Portland, and she has raised over $11 million for her favorite causes. She developed a national training program for nonprofit administrators and fosters connections between public officials, businesses, and community programs. Maura says she has a knack for matching people with causes, careers, and capers, and she can still sing all the songs from Marlo Thomas’s “Free to Be You and Me”. She will have been at Mother and Child Education Center for seven years in February 2021.
